Our Services and Schedule

Ursidae Jiu-jitsu is a martial arts school specializing in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, commonly called BJJ, owned and operated by Jonny and Christie Blaylock.

BJJ, also sometimes simply called “jiu-jitsu,” is a grappling martial art similar to Judo and wrestling. There are no punches or kicks, but there are submissions like arm-bars, shoulder locks, and various “chokes.”

Brazilian Jiu-jitsu

Jiu-jitsu is a grappling martial art that uses strategic grips (different ways to grab someone) and leverage to off-balance an opponent, take them to the ground, control them and ultimately force them to give-up (usually by "tap-out" to a submission). We offer jiu-jitsu classes for adults in the Gi as well no-Gi on weekday evenings and Saturday morning.

Kids Jiu-jitsu

We offer jiu-jitsu classes for kids six days a week: Mon-Sat. Jiu-jitsu helps kids gain strength and fitness, build confidence, and learn real self-defense and anti-bullying strategies. We offer three kids programs: MIGHTY-MITES for ages 3-6, PEE-WEE for 7-9, and JUNIOR/TEEN for 10-13. 14-16 year old students are welcome and will be assigned either to the JUNIOR/TEEN class or the ADULT Fundamental class, depending on their height and weight.

Mixed Martial Arts

We offer a beginner MMA class on Friday night at 7PM.
